Bukittinggi was a beautiful place that often visited by local tourist or outside. Have cold weather, comfort, as well the people friendly there. So, Bukittinggi was become one comfort place to reduce stress and find new experience. But if talk about Bukittinggi, have one place that must to visit. That is Lubang Jepang. In english language ‘Lubang Jepang’ call with ‘Japanese Hold’ or ‘Japan Cave’. Have long story in this place, especially about history that related when Japanese colonized this place.
Lubang Jepang have round in Bukittinggi central city, so everyone feel easy to find him. This place was a proof about Japanese Community that available until now, and this place formerly have strategic function by Japanese soldier. Long trail, have 128 ladder step to pass by room by room at there. If you visit there, may you will confuse to seeing rooms there. But don’t worry, you can used guide if you visit there so you can seeing one by one and also room function. Each Room/trail have function by Japanese soldier, like barrack, weapon room, meeting room, dining room, jail, kitchen, torturing room, room for Indonesian arrestee, and human corpse banishment. But the uniqueness in this place have several room/path to attack and espionange Indonesia people that pass this place.
This cave found on 1942, but until 1945 many Indonesia arrestee from several land leave here. To keep the secret, everyone that visit there speechless forever so this place still become the top secret from everyone.
Well, you think this place is horrified to visit, but in fact not like this. Because this place is one of great history place in West Sumatera. You can know about all that related with previous period during the time Japanese colonized here.
If you want to visit, you’ll not difficult to going there. From Padang, you can using bus or car travel. With traveled distance 98km, you’ll find nice scenery before till at there. Only 1,5 hours, you can becoming your visit unforgotten. Till there, you can find various handicraft round this place.
